Mike was born and raised on a farm near Hamburg, Pa. The youngest of nine children, he learned at an early age the important roll of nature and the responsibility of preserving our environment. Living at the base of the Shade Mountain in rural central Pennsylvania, Mike feels privileged to have the opportunity to observe the many species of wildlife in their natural element. He can often be found, sketchbook in hand, exploring the many fields, fencerows, and woodlands of the Lost Creek area surrounding his home. In 1987 Mike's painting Autumn Treasures was selected for the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsman's Club Conservation Print and Stamp. His artwork has also been featured in several magazine publications. While Mike usually depicts wildlife in his paintings, his subject matter also includes rural settings and historical scenes. Whether he is painting, carving, or working with clay, careful attention is always given to the minute details which is evident in all of his artwork. Says Mike, "I like to think that my work gives people a sense of enjoyment and appreciation of our environment and heritage." Mike offers his prints for sale on this site as well as original artwork.
